My Journey

I (she/her/hers) was born and raised in South Korea, which set the foundation for how I lived my life in the years that followed. Since my childhood, I have worked in Spain, studied in Turkey, and spent the majority of my life in Southern California. Although it was wonderful to live in different countries, it was also a harrowing journey to find peace in my identity as an Asian American immigrant woman in the various worlds I occupied. That lived struggle for peace in my own internal system, family, school, workplace, and relationships all ultimately molded into my passion to support internal healing, harmony, and peace for Asian American individuals and couples.

When I was a new therapist in San Diego searching for my own therapist, I quickly learned that there weren’t many therapists that helped me feel culturally known and safe as an Asian American woman. The discouraging experience of struggling to find a therapy space that highlighted and honored my Asian American experiences was the foundation that eventually culminated in Full Well Therapy. Now, I feel incredibly blessed to be able to provide the space that wasn’t available back then. And I consider it a great privilege to be able to partner with Asian Americans and those who hold an intersection of their identity that experiences oppression, marginalization, and erasure. I use Internal Family Systems (IFS) as well as other various therapy modalities in my practice to support everyone to a lived experience of true and complete wellness.

Who Am I?

I occupy different marginalized identities: a person of color, neurodivergent, the eldest of immigrant parents, a woman; and have lived experience with depression, anxiety, trauma, chronic illness, colorism, racism, and oppression. I also occupy privileged identities: cisgender, straight, able-bodied, connection with multiple generations, and have never experienced housing or food insecurity. I am thankful for all my identities, and am still on my own journey of living harmoniously with all these parts of me.

I also live in a multigenerational household when I’m not traveling to different beautiful wonders of the world. Except for the photo on this page, all photos on my website were taken by me during my various travels. I also like to spend time outside - I try to surf when I can, and also enjoy going on backpacking adventures. My ADHD also leads me to many craft-fixations; I love crafting, building, and creating things with my hands, and I am usually in the middle of multiple projects at once. I am also on the Board of the Korean American Coalition of San Diego, where I have the opportunity to advocate for the Korean American community through outreach, education, and resources.
