You can create time
According to recent research, if you have a looming appointment in your schedule, you are less likely to productively use any free time before that appointment. Surprisingly, this is true even if you are completely prepared for that future appointment! This can create a lot of dead time in your schedule, where your mind prevents you from tackling doable tasks in the time leading up to an appointment. You can try to combat this natural tendency by creating back to back agenda items, or creating smaller subtasks. In other words, you can create usable time!
